Regional Pride shines in the latest 'Dive Local' Design Drop from The Lake Shark

📍Springfield, IL – August 2024: 

The Lake Shark, the Midwest’s boldest sea critter swimwear brand, is diving deeper into its Midwest roots with a new wave of state-themed rash guard and leggings designs created especially for lake-loving scuba divers and underwater explorers from landlocked Midwest areas.

As part of its Dive Local collection, The Lake Shark is proud to introduce:

• Great Lakes Camo – A bold camouflage-inspired pattern made from the actual shapes of the Great Lakes. Vibrant, stealthy, and a big splash of freshwater pride.
• Dive Local Blues – Inspired by the local scene's water, wind, & waves this is a crisp cool layered pattern designed to mix and match across the new regional tops and accessories.
• State & City-Specific Rash Guards – Custom-designed pilot drops are now available for three top local diver hubs:  Michigan, Ohio, & Chicagoland 

This marks the brand’s first region-specific product offering—a move designed to strengthen its commitment to local dive culture and lake-based recreation.

“As a company born in the Midwest, we wanted to create sun & sting protection layers that honor the unique pride and grit of divers who train and explore in our local lakes, quarries, and rivers—not just in the ocean,” said a spokesperson for The Lake Shark.

All the new pieces will be made in the USA, available in size-inclusive ranges for both women & men, and crafted with the brand’s signature small-batch, eco-conscious production model.

As a diver who learned to love the sport right here in the Midwest, this one’s personal. These designs are a love letter to Great Lakes Wrecks & other local dive sites, to all the Drysuit warriors, Quarry students, and everyone who knows that underwater magic doesn’t require an ocean.
